The News Feed COVID-19 Podcast: The Hope of Vaccines and Concerns of College Students

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Moderna have applied for emergency use of their vaccinations with the Food and Drug Association. Successful vaccines being created on an accelerated timeline still doesn’t mean life is back to normal yet, it won’t be until early to mid-2021 that vaccines will be widespread and available for everybody. This news comes as college students are returning home for the semester; potentially bringing COVID-19 to their families and communities. For Hokies, Virginia Tech offered free departure tests to help stop the spread; easing worries of potentially asymptotic college students spreading the virus to their families.
